Clay
This sculpture embodies the delicate interplay between growth and fragility, capturing the process of personal evolution. The figure is partially figurative, with half of the form constructed from stacked rocks—symbolising the foundation of strength built through resilience and effort. These stones, though stable, also show signs of wear and fragmentation, reflecting the weight of past challenges that continue to influence the individual. The unfinished nature of the figure speaks to the ongoing journey of transformation, where strength is constantly being shaped, yet the echoes of the past remain a part of the whole. This piece invites reflection on the complexities of becoming—how we rise, build, and evolve, even as we carry remnants of what we’ve overcome.

PLA, Resin
The beauty of a tree is admired from above land, with 'the mess' of roots hidden underneath. The choice of materials exposes what is usually unseen, comparable to the way modern society chooses to be represented externally - composed but struggling on the inside.

(Healing Series) 2012
Fabric, cotton thread, metal boning
This triptych explores sickness and healing; the process examines the destruction of a surrogate object, taking apart to the skeleton structure. The first in the series is mess of seams, draped on the plinth, the object at it's most vulnerable state, the further two sculptures explore the healing of someone after illness. The second piece starts to rebuild but falls in on itself and the final is rigid, standing tall and strong. They become stronger but ultimately are not the same as before.

(Healing Series) 2011
Mixed fabrics, thread, wood
This mixed media piece is a conceptual work exploring illness and healing, the textiles represents the human condition–a mess of fleshy fibres–taken apart and hand-sewn back together. These stretched, healing threads are prominent, exacerbating the process and that 'the self' is still in recovery.
The wooden frame is disjointed, broken, leaning, but still standing. There is strength and vulnerability in the choice of materials. The work also explores reparation and 'the object as a surrogate'.

Fabric, dye, stiffener
These two sleeves have been transformed from plain, limp fabric pieces into strong, upright forms. This evolution reflects the journey of recovery and the process of turning weakness into strength, particularly in the context of healing from illness. The shift from fragility to structure mirrors the resilience required to rebuild and restore.
The choice of clothing as a medium speaks to the often-overlooked challenges faced in everyday life, such as the simple act of getting dressed. When dealing with difficult mental states, even the most routine tasks can become monumental. This piece explores the emotional weight and gradual empowerment inherent in regaining strength, step by step, through the most personal and seemingly mundane actions.
